We have hit the halfway point of the 2022 NFR and some major storylines are beginning to develop. Here is a look at your News and Notes after Round 5.

  • Lisa Lockhart is making a charge to the front of the Barrel Racing standings. Lockhart has been one of the most impressive athletes of the NFR thus far, coming in at No. 14 in the World Standings, and is now projected to finish No. 2 behind Jordon Briggs. Last night Lockhart split the round with Hailey Kinsel which helped her take the lead in the average. This could be viewed, by some, as a surprise as Lockhart placed in just 10 of 30 NFR rounds in her last three performances.
  • Speaking of surprises, Logan Hay took the round last night and is now up to fifth in the World thanks to a strong showing through five rounds. Hay went 89 points on Larry Culpepper to get the win. Hay has now ridden in all five rounds after coming into the NFR with the lowest qualified ride percentage of the 15 Saddle Bronc riders at 75%.
  • Tristen Hutchings is getting comfortable at the NFR. Hutchings won Round 1 and added another win last night after going 90.5 points. The win has Hutchings, an NFR Rookie, up to fourth in the PRCA World Standings and brings his NFR winnings to over $70,000.
  • Marty Yates goes back-to-back and splits Round 5 with Kincade Henry. The two both stopped the clock at 7.3 seconds to win the round. This is Henry’s first NFR appearance and the win moved him up to fifth in the PRCA World Standings.
  • Looking to Round 6, Maverick Potter drew Party Animal in Bull Riding. In Round 1, Tristen Hutchings was 90.5 points on the same bull for the round win. It is a golden opportunity for Potter, who has yet to place at the 2022 NFR.
  • Tilden Hooper gets another excellent draw as he is matched up with Bronc Riding Nation who Kaycee Feild won the opening round on with an 87.5-point ride.
