There were ties in three events in Round 5 of the NFR on Monday night.
In barrel racing, 16-time NFR qualifier Lisa Lockhart vaulted into contention for her first Gold Buckle by splitting the round win with Hailey Kinsel. It was Kinsel’s third round win of the 2022 NFR and she is now No. 1 in the WPRA World Standings while Lockhart is now No. 1 in the NFR Average.
Just like they did last year, Coleman Proctor/Logan Medlin won Round 5 of the NFR in team roping with a 3.8-second run. This year, they were joined by Clay Tryan/Jade Corkill.
Marty Yates has now won back-to-back rounds after sharing Round 5 with NFR first-timer Kincade Henry. Both cowboys were 7.3 seconds.
“I’ve been watching (Yates) do that (win the round) since I was about 12-years-old,” Henry said. “To get out here and win my first Go-Round with Marty is pretty cool.”
