NFR Bullfighter Dusty Tuckness Details His Recovery So Far

Ten-time PRCA Bullfighter of the Year Dusty Tuckness is recovering from surgery after fracturing two bones in his left leg in Round 9 of the NFR and it has already been a long road.

Tuckness says the surgery was not done properly in Las Vegas in December, so a month later he needed to have an additional procedure on his injured leg. He also said the injury can be a mental challenge as well because at times, he wishes he were further along in the recovery process.

“It’s been a bit of a roller coaster at times,” he said. “It’ll be bittersweet through a lot of the process, just do to every four month increment, I feel like I should be a little more ahead....God’s got a plan through this whole thing.”

Tuckness has begun walking with a boot on his leg and is in the process of trying to wean himself off crutches.

Tuckness does not have an estimate of when he will return to bullfighting, but says he has been doing everything he can with his mind and body to speed up the recovery.

“It’s definitely been hard sitting and watching all of these rodeos I should be at,” he said. “But at the end of the day, 2022 is is still going to be a great year.”
