New Faces Headed to Vegas in the Saddle Bronc

KOLBY WANCHUK TIES THE ARENA RECORD AT THE CALGARY STAMPEDE 2021

The saddle bronc riding at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo will have some new faces this December. Kolby Wanchuk, Ben Anderson, Tegan Smith and Sage Newman have all cinched their spots for their first ever trip to the bright lights of Vegas.

Wanchuk started out the 2021 season strong getting checks at Rodeo Rapid City and the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. He also got second in the first round of the San Angelo Rodeo with 86 points on Desert Stomper of Hampton Pro Rodeo and second in the chute out round with 86.5 on Dirty Jacket of Pete Carr Pro Rodeo. Wanchuk did well during the summer run as well winning the Newtown Rodeo Days with 88 points on Mosburcker Rodeo’s Smokin’ Hot. The Alberta cowboy shined at the Calgary Stampede where he pulled a check in all but one round and he tied the arena record when he went 94.5 points on Calgary Stampede’s Urgent Delivery.

Anderson is currently ranked No. 8 in the PRCA world standings after winning at all the right places this year. In the first round of the Pendleton Roundup the Alberta cowboy went for 87 points on Burch Rodeo’s Strawberry Rocket to get a piece of the money. He went 87 points twice that week, this time in Saint George, Utah at the Lion’s Dixie Roundup on Cut Throat of Bar T Rodeo. Anderson has a name you have seen many times this year as he has had success at some big rodeos including Cheyenne Frontier Days, the Xtreme Broncs Finale and Calgary Stampede.

TEGAN SMITH PENDLETON ROUNDUP 2021

Smith has also cashed in some significant wins at big places. He kicked off his summer with a win at the Casey Tibbs Match of Champions in Fort Pierre, South Dakota where he finished second in the average after going 85.5 points on a horse of Korkow Rodeo’s in the first round and 89 on Dakota Rodeo’s Suga Boom Boom in the finals. Smith then went on to win Reno Rodeo and he followed it up with a 92.5-point ride on J Bar J’s In The Lu at the Jordan Match Xtreme Broncs and an 89 at the Pendleton Roundup. Smith has steady climbed the standings all summer.

SAGE NEWMAN CHEYENNE FRONTIER DAYS 2021

Newman is a name that really made an appearance at the American Rodeo in February. He rodeo Frontier Rodeo’s Cowboy Town for 87.5 points the first round to be second. He went on to ride in the shoot out round that weekend. This spring Newman pulled checks at San Angelo Rodeo, Clovis Rodeo and he went 90.5 points on Outlaw Bucker’s OLS Tubs Magic Carpet Ride at the World Famous Miles City Bucking Horse Sale Xtreme Bronc Ride to cash in over $6,000. This summer Newman has kept up the winning momentum as he got money at the Lewiston Roundup, the Tri-State Rodeo and Cheyenne Frontier Days.

These cowboys will all be making their first appearance that the Thomas and Mack come December and with the season they had we can expect big rides and big scores.
