NCHA’s Metallic Cat Summer Spectacular with Tag Rice

Texas horseman and trainer Tag Rice of Tag Rice Cutting Horses was one of the biggest money earners this week at the National Cutting Horse Association’s Metallic Cat Summer Spectacular, winning third in the regular open cutting and first in the Intermediate Open Derby Finals.

The horse he was on: a 4-year-old named Champayne Dreams, owned by his brother and best friend Scotty Rice.

She’s just a good little mare. She’s really smart, quick, and just does everything you want her to do,” Rice says. “… She’s handles it all real well mentally. She’s grown up a lot since the futurity, and she’s been extremely easy to work. She can go fast but keep her composer good, and that’s what we’re looking for in these horses.”
