Abigail Knight took the lead in Round 1 of the NFR Open by one tenth of a second during the Thursday night performance one her ranch raised horse, Pistol.
“I know if I fight him at all, he’s going to get mad. So he gets to choose when he takes off and he hit the gas pedal right from the start and, I mean, he didn’t let up and I’m very lucky,” she said.
Pistol was born and raised on Knight’s family ranch and she ran his sister in high school and college, it is a lineage very special to Knight.
Knight makes her Round 2 run in the Friday matinee performance as she is setting herself up for success at the NFR Open.
