Michael Otero took an early lead on Night No. 1 of the NFR Open in Colorado Springs, Colorado by exactly two seconds when he stopped the clock at 8.3 seconds.
He has had success in this arena before when it was the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo and it is looking like he will do it again on an equine partner that Otero has had for a long time.
“He’s 16 years old. Mr. Bill Stewart trained him for me and handed him over to me and I’ve had him ever since then. The Lord blessed me tonight with a good calf,” Otero said.
Otero had a tribe that helped him get to Colorado Springs from Calgary as he heads to the next one and waits out the rest of the performances at the NFR Open.
