Some big names swung by the Mesquite Championship Rodeo Saturday, August 15, to try and earn checks and jump into or stay in the top 15 in the World Standings during the final stretch of the ProRodeo Season. Among those who ended up in the money were bareback rider Bill Tutor (No. 24), steer wrestler Will Lummus (No. 11), team ropers Coleman Proctor (No. 18) and Ryan Motes (No. 19), team ropers Luke Brown (No. 1) and Patrick Smith (No. 20), barrel racers Jackie Ganter (No. 33) and Jimmie Smith (No. 3), and roper Ike Fontenot (No. 21), who not only split second in the tie-down but also won the all-around title.
