Meet Kylie McLean & Megan Gunter: WRWC’s Team Roping Champions

Header Kylie McLean and heeler Megan Gunter were named the WCRA’s Women’s Rodeo World Championship Team Roping Champions on Wednesday, May 18.

Kylie and Megan each received a $60,000 check after stopping the clock with the fastest time of the Triple Crown Round.

Some of the fiercest athletes in the sport of rodeo competed at the Cowtown Coliseum and header, Kylie McLean, says that the game plan was, “just to score good, get them all caught and then handle them for Megan and at the end it all comes down to a catching game.”

On the heel side of the team, Megan Gunter raves about Kylie’s ability to open the steers up quickly and allow Megan to get her job done.

An opportunity such as the Women’s Rodeo World Championships is extremely impactful for these female athletes and their continued progression in the world of rodeo.

“The WCRA, PBR, WRWC, all of them have done a great job of creating an event to where we can have that opportunity cause as we all know there aren’t very many opportunities like that and specifically for women, so it was great, we were really excited to go there, and it means the world,” Gunter said.
