PRCA timed event cowboy Maverick Harper underwent surgery after an accident claimed the life of his friend and fellow rodeo competitor John Cooper Guidry.
According to Kendra Santos, the two men were traveling home from Florida when an 18-wheeler crossed the median and hit their truck and trailer. The pair was hauling 40 calves in a 36-foot trailer and 15 of those calves have died.
Harper survived but broke his right femur and kneecap as well as a broken clavicle in his left shoulder. Harper’s surgery on Wednesday was to get a rod placed his right leg.
