On April 25, Matt Carter was named the new General Manager of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, replacing Brad Barnes as the leader of day-to-day operations for the 127-year-old organization.
Carter has been involved with the FWSSR since 2009, when he started as a volunteer before eventually joining the executive team in 2021.
“It’s humbling to be appointed to a role held by just a few individuals in the Stock Show’s storied history,” Carter said. “I have big boots to fill and I’m honored to step into this role following the exemplary leadership of Brad Barnes.”
The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo set an attendance record in 2023 with more than 1.2 million people entering the grounds and over 200,000 rodeo tickets sold.
