Matt Brockman on the Cancellation of the 2021 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo

On Thursday, the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo announced the cancellation of all events for 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

FWSSR Communications Manager Matt Brockman joined Steve Kenyon and Janie Johnson on Western Sports Round-Up to discuss why and how the executive committee came to their decision.

“In the context of 1.2 million people that come on our grounds over 23 days, youth and FFA exhibitors that come from 235 of Texas’ 254 counties, we realized it would take some tremendous mitigation measures to put in place, especially in those livestock barns, to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” says Brockman. “It was a decision that we had to make, and so we made that decision, and feel it was the right decision.”
