Makin’ 8: Dean Thompson’s Record-Setting Performance and Stetson Wright Dominates

The Guymon Pioneer Days and the Cactus Jack Xtreme Bulls took center stage last week and we saw some incredible performances.

Here is a look back at the top moments of the week in this week’s Makin’ 8.

No 8: Ky Hamilton may not have won the Cactus Jack Xtreme Bulls, be he did have the second-highest marked ride with an 89-point ride in the opening round. Hamilton is No. 1 in the World with over $111,000 earned on the year.

No. 7: Junior Souza goes 88 points to win Guymon. Souza only has nine rides in the PRCA this season, but he made his most recent ride count. Souza went 88 points on County Jail for the win.

No. 6: It was a great weekend for Summer Kosel who won the first round in Guymon and would go on to win the average. Kosel opened the rodeo with a 17.01-second run and would finish 34.13 on two to take the average.

No. 5: Cash Robb continues to impress. This time it is in Guymon where he goes 3.8 seconds to win the second round of the rodeo. His time was also the fastest we saw over the weekend in Oklahoma.

No 4: Tyler Bauerle one-ups Cash at the Helotes Festival Rodeo and stops the clock at 3.6 seconds to get the win. Bauerle had the fastest Steer Wrestling time of the weekend across all rodeos.

No 3: Tanner Butner impressed in Guymon, going 90 points for the win. The 90 point ride was Butner’s second-highest-marked ride of the season, behind only his 94-point ride in Fort Wroth.

No. 2: Stetson Wright finds himself in the top 8 moments of the week yet again. This time it’s after a dominating showing at the Cactus Jack Xtreme Bulls where he won over $17,000 and took the average by over 12 points.

No. 1: It is the best ride Guymon has seen. Dean Thompson sets a new arena record with his 92.5-point ride on Gun Fire to get the win and set the new high mark.
