May has been a standout month for barrel racer and breakaway roper Makenzie Mayes. At the Women’s Rodeo World Championships, Mayes dominated as the Challenger WRWC World Champion in barrel racing, winning two rounds, claiming the average title, and with her standout horse Rousey, setting an arena record at Cowtown Coliseum.
Her momentum didn’t stop there. Mayes was also a key contributor to the Free Riders team at Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo, helping secure the team’s overall victory.
On the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) circuit, Mayes is making waves as well, currently sitting second in the Resistol Rookie of the Year race with her sights set on the title by the end of the season.
With the year already packed with major milestones, Makenzie Mayes is clearly a rising star in the rodeo world and a fierce competitor to watch as she continues her journey down the road.
