Josey Murphy’s California Rodeo Salinas is one that she will never forget. The Louisiana breakaway roper stopped the clock at 4.1 seconds during the Short Go on Sunday afternoon to take the title away from the one and only lady to have ever won it and the defending champion, Shelby Boisjoli.
“I’m just thrilled to be here. I drew three really good calves and I just used them. Things went my way,” Murphy said.
Aboard her seven-year-old mare, Chex, who Murphy says is all heart, Murphy captured the California Rodeo Salinas championship to add to her 2023 season.
