Loni Kay Lester smoked the competition in the breakaway roping at Dickies Arena with a 1.9 to win the round. She knew she had a faster calf but she also knew that her horse, Jag, would get her there in perfect timing.
“He’s just pretty special, most of the time he gets in there and does what he’s supposed to do and I’ve never really had a horse like that, where every time I can count on him and that’s what he is,” Lester said about Jag.
The fans in Fort Worth have been electric and some horses thrive off of that energy, Jag being one of them, even with ear plugs. Lester comes back tonight to rope in Round 2 for her spot in the Semifinals.
