It was a season full of firsts for Lisa Lockhart. For the first time in over a decade, Lisa had to make a full swing this summer. Since retiring her great horse, Louie, Lockhart has two horses that you can see her on, Rosa and Cutter. The Lockhart team gave it their all and she cinched her 15th Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualification.

Most of Lockhart’s earnings came from the summer run. However, at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, Lockhart was second in the Second Go with a 14.940. She pulled a couple checks in June before really taking off in July.

She placed in Gordon, Nebraska before she ran 16.730 at the historic Deadwood Days of ’76 Rodeo in her home state of South Dakota. She had good luck with Rosa at Cheyenne Frontier Days as well. The duo won the two rounds, was fourth in the semi-finals and fifth in the finals.

Lockhart then went on to be second in Ogden, Utah with a 17.230 and she added $7,309 to her season earnings. She was fourth in at the Livingston Roundup (Montana) and she tied for seventh at Mandan Rodeo Days.

She kept pulling checks up north all summer long, including one for more than $3,000 after a solid run in Moses Lake, Washington.

One of Lockhart’s biggest moments of the year was at the Pendleton Roundup when she ran there for the very first time ever in her career. Lockhart was a 28.600 to win the First Round on Rosa. They ended up fifth in the average.

Lockhart is going into this NFR ranked No. 14 but she is a veteran at the Thomas and Mack. She made history last year when she surpassed Sherry Cervi as the winningest barrel racer of the NFR and it won’t stop there. Lockhart is a $2.8 million cowgirl that is an all time favorite among fans. Rosa and Cutter have big shoes to fill but they have been great so far, let’s see what they can do at the Thomas and Mack.
