ARIZONA—Today the barrel racing community comprised of fans, contestants, trainers and breeders mourns the passing of a legend, the horse with a coat of gold, PC Frenchmans Hayday aka Dinero.

His alleyway ally, 4X World Champion Barrel Racer Sherry Cervi, said of his passing, “Dinero, You have made so many dreams come true...especially mine. I will forever be grateful. I know your legacy will live on far beyond your years.”

As his barn name suggests, Dinero was a money maker from the very beginning, with lifetime earnings over $400,000. Owned by Mel and Wendy Potter, he resided at Potter Ranch in Marana, Arizona, and was 24 years old at the time of his passing.

An NFR veteran, Dinero had 7 qualifications, over $600,000 in PRCA rodeo earnings, and was accomplished in multiple timed events. He carried Cory Petska to 4th in the world in Team Roping and Todd Suhn to 6th in the world in the Steer Wrestling.

“He loved it and switching events was no big deal. He was truly remarkable,” Cervi said in her post on Facebook (see below).

Dinero was also a proven producer, having sired 2 World Champion barrel horses and multiple National Finals Rodeo qualifying mounts. His offspring include DM Sissy Hayday, aska Sister, run by Hailey Kinsel, Carly Taylor’s horse ‘Diva Deniro,’ and Cervi’s horse ‘MP Meter My Hay.’

A farewell to our favorite Frenchman, you will be missed by ProRodeo.
