Kricket Gintner got ready to ride in San Antonio in under 24 hours

Kricket Ginter has had a week to remember. She shared first place with Emily Miller in the barrel racing in Bracket Three on Sunday night and then on Monday, she followed that up with a 14.96-second run.

Her Monday run was the fastest of any barrel racer in her bracket and she earned $2,750 in two days in addition to a spot in the semifinals of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.

Ginter almost didn’t compete. She was called in as a replacement and rushed to San Antonio in less than 24 hours. The barrel racer from Eau Claire, Wisconsin packed in less than 90 minutes and made the drive south.

“Fortunately, We were somewhat packed to come down for The American semi-finals, and once we got the call about the 30 hour replacement rule... I actually knew my answer would be ‘Yes,’ but I had to run it past my mom, and we just kicked it into gear, got everything, threw a bunch of extra things just in case, and we were on our way in about an hour and a half.”
