Kinlie Brennise Among Elite Field as Breakaway Roping Added to Calgary Stampede

It was recently announced that the iconic Calgary Stampede is adding breakaway roping to its main rodeo lineup. Among the first class of competitors to rope on this historic stage is Kinlie Brennise, currently ranked number five in the WPRA world standings.

This season, Brennise is chasing her first qualification for the National Finals Breakaway Roping, and with $46,932 in earnings so far, she is well on her way. Much of that success came early in the year during the lucrative winter rodeos, particularly the Texas Swing, where she picked up sizable checks in Fort Worth and at RodeoHouston.

“Those winter rodeos have so much money added that if you can get a good start, it takes a little pressure off in the summer,” Brennise said. “I was thankful to capitalize at Fort Worth, I won second there, and I feel like that really got my momentum going. I was also able to pick up some money in San Antonio, Austin, and Houston, which helped too. if you can get a big start from the beginning, you don’t feel like you’re playing catch up.”

With the summer run now in full swing, Brennise is focused on roping smart, staying consistent, and securing her place in the top 15.
