Karson Mebane was riding in the Rookie Bronc riding a year ago at the Cheyenne Frontier Days, and on Thursday he got his first shot at the big leagues in Cheyenne. He would take full advantage by winning the round with an 84-point ride.
Mebane was excited for his matchup with Good Time Girl, a horse he has seen buck before.
“I thought she was awesome. I seen here at the Colorado Springs in the Bareback Riding. I was just tickled pink to see her next to my name. I’m blessed to be getting to the second round.”
Mebane had been dreaming about this day for a long time, and to
even he could have dreamed up a round win in his first Cheyenne Frontier Days.
“I couldn’t even tell you. It’s awesome. I was in the rookie bronc riding for the last two years and it is a pleasure to be up here with the big boys and riding with them.”
