John Douch got one of the biggest wins of his career when he took home the title from Rodeo Houston. He has won rodeos such as California Rodeo Salinas and Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo but winning the $50,000 at Houston tops his list.
“It was pretty good to get a big win like that and give me a big jump in the PRCA standings,” Douch said.
The win at Houston has put Douch at the No. 1 spot in the tie-down roping. It has added to his confidence and gives him momentum to continue on and try to qualify for his second ever National Finals Rodeo.
“In ’19 I finished 16th and barely missed it and then hurt my knee, had to sit out for a bit and barely finish in the top 30. Then coming back and making my first National Finals and then coming back to win Houston and give me a big jump in the world standings, it means a lot and I’ve got so much confidence right now,” he said.
He has made it back to the Semifinals at Rodeo Austin and will be competing on a horse that he has had success on before.
