Jill Tanner did not not think her time of 2.65 seconds as the first out would hold up for a breakaway roping buckle at RFD-TV’s The American, but she was wrong.
The next closest cowgirl in the Shootout Round was 2020 American Champion Kaycee Hollingback at 3.08 seconds.
“I am definitely not the best roper here, it was just my day,” Tanner said.

TANNER’S INTERVIEW
Tanner did not rope for about eight years after college, instead focusing on barrel racing. However, The American Rodeo is what brought her back to breakaway roping.
“This kind of money, this opportunity, I missed roping a little bit and can’t pass this up,” she said.
