JB Mauney Kept it Simple to Take the Lead at Rodeo Austin

It took three performances to see a qualified bull ride in Austin and on Night No. 3, we saw three. The highest marked ride of them all came from the legendary JB Mauney aboard Beutler & Son Rodeo’s Black Panther.

He was the first of the three cowboys to make the whistle and for him, he kept it simple. But the momentum was felt behind the chutes by Trey Holston and Brody Yeary.

“You know, it’s all about confidence riding bulls. If you don’t have a chip on your shoulder riding bulls you might as well go home but when your buddy makes a great ride that just pumps you up, that fuels the fire. And when the crowd gets wild and loud then your motor gets to running even more,” Mauney said.

Mauney might have punched his ticket to the Semifinals in Austin and he made it look easy.
