After having his riggin broke in the chutes the day before by the same horse, Jayco Roper went into the Thursday night performance of Reno Rodeo with a riggin he had never ran his hand into before. Eight seconds later, aboard Rosser Rodeo’s Cowboy & Kids, Roper put an 84.5-point ride on the board.
“I’d be really lying if I said I was not terrified to get on that dragon. I was really glad when I heard the whistle blow so I could get the heck off that thing,” Roper said.
Each riggin is customized to fit each individual bareback rider and Roper found one just in time. He now sits fifth in the average, unofficially and will be back for Short Go Saturday in Reno.
