The No. 1 Steer Wrestler in the World is a four-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier that hails from Louisiana. His name is Jacob Talley, and he is rolling into the City of Lights with one thing on his mind… A Gold Buckle.

Talley’s year started off with a bang at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. He won Round 1 with a 4.0 second run and he stopped the clock at 4.2 in Round 2 and 4.4 in Round 4. He cashed in over $6,000 in total for the month of February.

His early lead was boosted when he won the American Rodeo with a 3.9 in the Shootout Round to win the $100,000.

Talley went on to the San Angelo Rodeo and placed second in the First Go with a 3.5 and was a 4.5 in the Finals. He followed it up with a series of 4.0 second runs at the John W. Jones Memorial Steer Wrestling before going on the Clovis Rodeo (California). In Clovis, Talley added over $3,000 to his already huge lead in the standings.

From the beginning of May through the beginning of June, Talley hit a hot streak. It started at Guymon Pioneer days when Talley was 3.9. He then went on to win the Matagorda County Fair and Livestock Exposition with a 4.0 and he was 4.0 again at the Panola County Cattlemen’s ProRodeo. The next two rodeos he hit, Talley would win with a 3.6 and a 3.9. He’d be a 4.3 at the Will Rogers Stampede (Oklahoma) and he’d wrap it up with a 3.7 at the Parker County Sheriffs Possee Frontier Days and PRCA Rodeo (Texas). All in all, Talley rounded out the month bringing in more than $12,000.

Talley’s spot at what is his fourth NFR was the was secured long before the season was over, but Talley didn’t stop there. He cinched the No. 1 spot going in and it is safe to say that he is determined to come out a World Champion.
