Jackie Crawford Wins American Rodeo Breakaway Roping for the First Time

Jackie Crawford is a 20-time WPRA World Champion and on Sunday, she added another prestigious title, American Rodeo champion.

Crawford was the only cowgirl with a clean run and she turned in a time of 2.26 seconds to win the $100,000 first place prize.

“Man, the whole journey, my whole life to get here,” Crawford said. “It was just awesome, it’s so fun to have the kids here and spend this week with the family.”

Kelsie Domer won $25,000 for her second-place time of 12.3 seconds in the Shootout.

This is the fourth time that The American has included breakaway roping and Crawford has been one of the most influential people in the rise of the sport.

“I take a lot of pride (in leading the charge for breakaway roping)....I’ve gotten to meet so many little girls this week and it’s kind of eye-opening to see how many of them are looking at us and what we’re doing right now,” she said. “I can’t wait to see what the girls after us do.”
