History was made in May 2025 when Jackie Crawford officially became the first roper in WPRA history to surpass $1 million in career earnings. The 23-time WPRA World Title holder and four-time National Finals Breakaway Roping qualifier reached the milestone with $20,931 in earnings already tallied for this season.
Crawford admitted she was caught off guard by the achievement.
“Oh my gosh, I didn’t even think about that check pushing me over that mark,” she said. “That was lots of little bits of money to get that million, for sure.”
This milestone is especially meaningful for Crawford, whose career, which she said, has spanned across multiple eras of women’s roping. It also marks a major moment of progress for breakaway roping and highlights the growing opportunities for women in the sport.
Beyond winning world titles and breaking records, Crawford continues to give back by hosting roping schools for young women, helping pave the way for the next generation of athletes.
After hinting at retirement last year, Crawford now says with a smile, “Nah, not anytime soon.” For now, she’s not slowing down—just adding to the legacy.
