Jace Melvin Wins First National Western Steer Wrestling Championship

Jace Melvin has been nothing but consistent in Denver with three out of his four runs stopping the clock at 4.6 seconds or faster to In the Final Round of the National Western, Melvin would be the fastest he has all week with a 4.2 to earn him the Championship.

A total of five cowboys were faster than five seconds in the Short Round.

“That was a good steer that they had good runs on this week and my horse worked great, my hazer worked great, and I’m just blessed to be here today,” he said.

This is Melvin’s first time winning the National Western and it added over $5,000 to his 2023 season earnings along with making him the No. 16 steer wrestler has he heads to the next winter rodeo.
