Steer Wrestler Jace Melvin Moves on to Semfinals at National Western

South Dakota’s Jace Melvin is the No. 1 steer wrestler moving on from Pool 5 at the National Western with a time of 13.3 on two head.

In a pen of steers where every steer was different and it came down to doing the best you could on the steer you drew, Melvin made it work to come out on top. You can never forget about the equine partners they back into the box with.

“She’s a really phenomenal mare. A good friend of mine, Jake Ashford, that owns her out of Utah. We’re partnered on her and she’s just a phenomenal horse. She works every time, she tries hard. She’s green, she’s going though some things… but she tries her heart out every time. I’m really blessed to have her in my life,” Melvin said.

The two of them together seemed to have figured things out in Denver and we will see them in the Semifinals. Melvin will compete again on Saturday, Jan. 21 on The Cowboy Channel and The Cowboy Channel+.
