In St. Paul with Steer Wrestlers Luke Branquinho and Dirk Tavenner
Last night was an exciting one in the steer wrestling at the St. Paul Rodeo in St. Paul, Oregon.
Turning in the fast time of the night was Dirk Tavenner, currently No. 26 in World Standings and looking to break into that Top 15 over the summer run. He’s now sitting second in round two behind Dalton Massey.
But consistency is key when it comes to taking the title in St. Paul — and 5X World Champion Luke Branquinho is nothing but consistent. Luke threw one down last night in 4.2 seconds, matching his round one time, to move to first in the average. With a total of 8.4 seconds on two head, he’s currently leading by .4 seconds. Branquinho is currently No. 18 in the Standings and seems focused on securing a spot at the NFR. Branquinho has been rodeoing hard so far this summer after coming back from a hamstring injury, and this could be his final run at another World Title. “This is probably going to be one of the last years I’m going to rodeo,” he said, “so I wanted to enjoy it.”
Don’t miss the final round of the St. Paul Rodeo, LIVE TONIGHT at 10:30PM ET on The Cowboy Channel and Cowboy Channel+ app.
