Hope Thompson on Being the First Breakaway Roper to Ever Compete at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo

Breakaway roping was added to the lineup of events for the first time this year at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, and 2X world champion Hope Thompson became the first to throw her rope. Reporter Amy Wilson talked to Thompson about how she felt going into the competition,

“Oh man, I wish I could put it into words,” she said. “It’s crazy, It’s to date, this is the biggest rodeo that we as breakaway ropers have gotten to enter, So if you’re going to be first, might as well make history, right?”

There’s $12,500 available per event in at the Chute Out, and more than half goes to the winner
