Last night kicked off the first round of The American Rodeo Semi-Finals at Cowtown Coliseum. Competitors battled it out to earn their spot to compete for the million at the finals.
Wyatt Bloom a Montana cowboy, led the round with a 85.50 score on the bronc Cactus Jack from Stace Smith.
In the Steer Wrestling, Scott Guenthner was the only cowboy to break into the three seconds. The Canadian came to win with a 3.71 second run.
Team Roping was fast with the top four times being within 0.15 seconds. Derrick Begay and Matt Sherwood came out on top with a time of 4.50.
The Saddle Bronc portion was full of rodeo superstars including the Crawley brothers, Logan Hay and Wade Sundell. Tanner Butner took the round with a 86.50 score on Amazon Hill.
Moving back to the timed events side of the arena, Cody Craig and MiKayla McCoy roped the fastest times of the night. In Tie-Down Roping, Cody Craig won the round with a 7.30. The ladies came to compete with four 2 second runs with MiKayla McCoy running a 2.22.
Continuing on with the cowgirls, Taylor Smith from Crockett, Texas clocked a 13.575.
To finish out the night, only three Bull Riders made the 8 seconds. JC Mortensen scored a 86.50 on the bull Easy Street. Mortensen moved two second overall in Bull Riding behind Dalton Kasel who leads by 0.25 points.
