Highlights from the Calgary Stampede

The Calgary Stampede has wrapped up and the winners are have been announced. Here is a look at all of the winning rides and runs.

In Steer Wrestling it was Stetson Jorgensen who took the title thanks to a 4.7-second run. Over the course of the rodeo, Jorgensen won $57,000. He was sitting in 13th place before the rodeo and could see himself jump all the way up to third place in the world standings. Stockton Graves took second place with a 4.9-second run.

Brody Cress put together the most impressive ride of the rodeo with a 94.5 point ride in the Showdown round to take the title. On the season Cress had no major wins, but that changed after his big showing in Calgary. K’s Thomson took second place with an 89 point ride on Stampede Warrior and made nearly $25,000 on the week.

Cory Solomon is no stranger to the Calgary Stampede and can now say he is a three-time winner of the rodeo thanks to his 7.3-second run. Solomon bested Marcos Costa’s 7.9-second run to take the title.

Canada’s own Jordan Hansen took the Bull Riding title with an 87.5 point ride on Diamond Back. Hansen, who lives just 30 minutes from the arena was the only cowboy to go the full eight seconds.

Tim O’Connell went 93.5 points on Xplosive Skies to best Caleb Bennett’s 92.5 point ride. O’Connell was over 90 points on four of six rides throughout the Calgary Stampede.

In Barrel Racing Bertina Olafson bested the field with a 17.247-second run. Brittney Barnett came in second place with a 17.552-second run.

After the win, Olafson said, “This is my dream and it came true. This is just so much more than I ever expected.”
