Haven Meged Sets Round Six Record in First Win of 2020 NFR

TIE-DOWN ROPING RECAP ROUND 6

2019 rookie and World Champion Haven Meged is beginning to find his groove at the 2020 NFR. He has chased a check in the last three rounds, including a record-setting performance in Round Six. Meged set the Round Six record with a 6.8-second time which also secured first place and a big payday.

The record was formerly held by Matt Shiozawa and Marty Wates (twice) who both stopped the clock at 6.9 seconds.

The Round Six win vaulted Meged from eighth to sixth in the World Standings.

“To my horse (Beyonce), if I didn’t have her, I wouldn’t have been able to make that run,” Meged said. “It’s a blessing to have her. ... She’s one of the best horses I have and just makes your job easy every time you nod your head.”

Meged currently sits in fifth place in the average with a total time of 62.20 on six head. Shane Hanchey leads the average with a time of 50.00 on six head.
