Haven Meged Enters Fifth Straight NFR as No. 3 Tie-Down Roper in the World

Haven Meged, the 2019 World Champion, is headed to his fifth National Finals Rodeo after securing the No. 3 spot in the World Standings with just over $195,000 in earnings for the regular season.

Meged claimed nine wins across three states and one province in 2023.

BIGGEST PAYDAYS

NFR Open (Colorado), $18,888

Meged got a big payady in the middle of July as as he claimed the No. 2 spot in the First Round, Average and Finals in Colorado Springs at the NFR Open. Overall, he won four checks of more than $4,000 at the event.

Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup, $12,500

Meged rounded out the regular season with success at the Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup as he claimed a spot in the Top 3 in Rounds 1 and 2 to then advance into the Semifinals where he finished at No. 5 with an 8.7-second run. Although the Montana cowboy was unable to secure a spot in the Short Go, he walked away with $12,500 in earnings.

FASTEST RUNS

Golden Spike Rodeo (Utah), 6.9 Seconds

Meged set his fastest time of the regular season at the Golden Spike Rodeo as he cinched the No. 1 spot with a blazing fast 6.9-second run to collect a $4,790 in earnings. Dylan Hancock, Zack Jongbloed, King Pickett and Jake Pratt filled out the rest of the Top 5 to also pick up a check in Tremonton. The same wekeend, Meged was also third at the Eastern Montana Fair and Rodeo and Gem State Stampede (Idaho).

The Calgary Stampede, 7.0 Seconds

As the Montana cowboy headed North he locked in a 7.0-second run in Round 2 of the Calgary Stampede to clock one of his fastest times of the season and secure a Go-Round check for $7,000. Meged added $10,000 to his earnings in Canada, contributing to his jump from No. 6 to No. 3 in the PRCA World Standings in the month of July.

NOTABLE WINS

Caldwell Night Rodeo (Idaho), 25.8 Seconds on Three

The Caldwell Night Rodeo was one of Meged’s four PRCA Playoff Series wins in 2023. He secured the top spot in the Final Round with a run of 7.9 seconds to ensure his position at No. 1 with an aggregate time of 25.8 seconds on three head. Meged made his way to the pay window where he picked up a check for $7,525 to further cement himself as a Top 3 roper in the world in August.

Oakley Independence Day Rodeo (Utah), 7.3 Seconds

The Oakley Independence Day Rodeo gave Meged a big boost over Cowboy Christmas as his lone win of the Fourth of July run was shared with Zack Kirkpatrick. Each cowboy banked just over $6,400.
