ProRodeo Hall of Famer Olin Young passed away in late February at the age of 86.
Young was a legendary Tie-Down Roper and Steer Roper reflected in his 27 NFR appearances throughout his career. In 1971 Young became the first to win four average titles in Tie-down Roping at the NFR. Young also won the average in 1959, 1962, and 1963.
Young was also a three-time average winner in Steer Roping (1967, 1974, 1977).
Young also served on the Rodeo Cowboys Association Board of Directors for four years and was inducted into the inaugural class of the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs in 1979.
