Hailey Kinsel is out to prove a point at the 2020 NFR. She is going for her third consecutive World Title and has already won three of the five rounds in Arlington.
Her latest round win came on Monday after a 16.92-second run, the only sub-17 second run of the rodeo thus far.
“You don’t ever really come into it thinking this is what you’re going to do, being that it’s such a tough field of girls, it being a bigger pattern and not knowing what the pattern is going to be like and if your horse is going to like it,” Kinsel said. “After the first round, I had a feeling she was going to have fun out here pretty often. I’m just glad she’s getting faster and faster and still relaxing.”
Jimmie Smith posted the second-fastest time at 17.30 seconds and Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, who currently sits in second place in the World Standings placed third in Round 5.
The Round 5 win brings Kinsel’s NFR earnings over the $100,000 mark and has given her an $18,000 lead over Pozzi Tonozzi in the World Standings.
Kinsel also sits in first place in the average through five rounds with a total time of 85.91 on five head. Pozzi Tonozzi is less than a second behind Kinsel with an aggregate of 86.56 on five head.
