Garrett Shadbolt Keeps Momentum in San Antonio To Win First Round of Semis

Garrett Shadbolt is starting to like being the first bareback rider out in the bareback riding. He got the first night of Semifinals in San Antonio rolling with an 87-point ride that held at the top of the leaderboard through the other nine riders.

“I’ve been first out a lot of rodeos this year. Usually it’s a tough spot to be, there’s a lot of pressure but this year it’s just been working out for me,” Shadbolt said.

Stace Smith Rodeo’s Star Witness was the horse that Shadbolt matched up with to bring in $5,000 bringing his total in San Antonio to $11,000 as he heads into the Finals.

“He just did his trip, he stacked up right there and he was really kicking and I thought now’s the time, I better go and dress him up, get all the points I could and I think we did the dance pretty well,” Shadbolt said about the Stace Smith Rodeo stud.

Moving on to the Finals alongside Shadbolt is Leighton Berry, Jess Pope, Kody Lamb and Cole Reiner.
