Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo: Semifinals 1

After a Wildcard Round filled with some of rodeo’s toughest competitors, we are ready for the Semifinals of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. There are two rounds of Semifinals and the top n4 from each will move on to Championship Saturday and this first set of Semifinalists are sure to bring their A-game.

BAREBACK RIDING

Cole Reiner has a rematch with J Bar J’s Night Lizard, a horse that he was 83.5 points on at the National Finals Rodeo this past December. Meanwhile, Rocker Steiner has draw Twin Cherry of Calgary Stampede’s. This horse is known to take cowboys to the pay window.

STEER WRESTLING

Wildcard Champion J.D. Struxness is hoping to carry the momentum from that round into the Semifinals. Big Will Lummus and Benz have been on a roll and Ty Erickson is out in this set as well. All three are NFR steer wrestlers gunning for their spot in the Finals.

BREAKAWAY ROPING

The ladies of the breakaway roping are some of the sharpest to ever swing a rope. Jackie Crawford battled her way back through the Wildcard to be here and among her competition is the defending Fort Worth Champion Kelsie Domer.

SADDLE BRONC RIDING

Canada’s Dawson Hay and J Bar J’s Delta Night have matched up this round. This horse carried Spencer Wright to an 85.5-point ride in Denver. Keeping with the Wright’s, seven time World Champion Stetson has drawn J Bar J’s Painted Commotion, a horse he will have the inside scoop on as Spencer, Rusty, Ryder and more of the Wright family has already had this matchup.

TIE-DOWN ROPING

A rivalry that has been around since they were in high school will carry over into the Semifinals in Fort Worth as rising super stars Riley Webb and Trevor Hale make up two of the eight calf ropers that will nod their heads.

TEAM ROPING

All eyes will be on Tanner Tomlinson and Patrick Smith in the team roping. The two made a statement in 2022 that they were planning to do big things. They followed through and are carrying that momentum into this season and Dickies Arena.

BARREL RACING

Sarah Rose Waguespack ran the second fastest time of the rodeo in Round 2 of Bracket 7 on a special roan horse that she calls Ranger and she is looking to do it again in the Semifinals. After fighting through the Wildcard Round, Jackie Ganter and Tycoon are also looking for another smooth, fast run.

BULL RIDING

Jordan Hansen is also riding a wave of momentum after making a huge ride in the Wildcard. His matchup is Rafter G Rodeo’s Johnny Thunder who carried both Stetson Wright and Scottie Knapp to 90-point rides at the FWSSR in 2022.
