History was made over the weekend as Sawyer Gilbert backed into the box for her final run of Rodeo Austin and went on to stop the clock in 2.2 seconds cinching the first ever breakaway title in Texas’ capital city.

Gilbert took advantage of her time in Texas and also competed in the Mercedes Breakaway Roping alongside some of the best in the business where she tied for second place with a 1.8-second run to collect a check for over $3,300.

The cowgirl’s monumental win at Rodeo Austin ensured a check for $10,569 totaling out her overall earnings to $22,919 placing her No. 9 in the WPRA World Standings and securing the Cowboy Channel’s Female Athlete of the Week.
