The Farm-City Pro Rodeo brought some of the PRCA’s best to Northeast Oregon for the first of two Playoff Rodeos in consecutive weeks in the Beaver State.
This one in Hermiston paid out a total of $295,000 as World Champions claimed the team roping title, a 19-year-old bronc rider continued to thrill and one of the world’s best team ropers showed he can tie-down rope a little as well.
Kaleb Driggers/Junior Nogueira have won the last two Gold Buckles in team roping and got a payday of north of $7,000 each for winning Farm-City with a time of 10 seconds flat on two. Both are now sitting No. 2 in their respective PRCA World Standings and both are less than $1,000 out of first place.
In saddle bronc riding, Statler Wright added his third PRCA Playoff win of the year and did so with a 90-point ride, the first of his pro career, on The Calgary Stampede’s Xplosive Skies. Wright beat the second-place cowboy, his brother Ryder, by 2.5 points.
Paden Bray is primarily known as a team roper, finishing twice as the Reserve World Champion. But in Hermiston, the No. 9 ranked heeler in the PRCA was 15.9 seconds on two to win the tie-down roping. He bested a leaderboard that included John Douch, Reese Reimer, Brush Minton and Kincade Henry.
Other winners of the Farm-City Pro Rodeo were Dean Thompson in bareback riding (87 points), Cody Cabral in steer wrestling (7.8 seconds on two), Hayle Gibson in barrel racing (16.96 seconds), Luke Mast and Jordan Spears in bull riding (86 points each) and Delaney Kunau in breakaway roping (3.9 seconds on two).
