Once again, Shad Mayfield is getting a head start on the season, and this time, he is hungrier than ever. The two-time World Champion Tie-Down Roper went into the first leg of the Texas Swing as the defending champion and he came out a two-time, consecutive champion.

It all got started in Bracket 1 when he won Round 1 with a 7.2-second run before splitting the Round 2 win with an 8.6. He was the No. 1 tie-down roper advancing with $4,443 in Fort Worth earnings.

In the Semi-Finals, Mayfield roped smart to put together an 8.4-second run that still cinched the Go-Round win by four-tenths of a second. That run landed him a place in the Final Round where he shut the clock off at 7.6 seconds in a tough round of competition.
