Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week: Statler Wright Climbs to No. 1 in the World with Success in San Antone

Winning two of three go-rounds lands Statler Wright on top of the world

Statler Wright’s 2024 season is starting like a dream and after racking up $6,500 to be the No. 1 cowboy moving on from his bracket in San Antonio, he is your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.

After advancing to the Final Round at both the National Western and Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, he is shaping up to do it all again in San Antone.

Wright’s Round 1 matchup was Legacy Pro Rodeo’s Maniac Wheel and the score was 82.5 points, which was be good enough for third, but that was not good enough for him.

He bested that come Round 2 when he rode Calgary Stampede’s Urgent Delivery for a whopping 87 points to win the Go-Round. He followed it up with another 82.5 in Round 3 on Baby Kibitz, but this time that was enough for first. The $6,500 made him the No. 1 cowboy to advance in the saddle bronc riding to the Semifinals from Bracket 2.

When you add the earnings from his three trips so far in Frost Bank Center, it brings Wright’s season total to $37,478 and that puts the Utah legacy at the top. He is the No. 1 saddle bronc rider in the PRCA World Standings.

The youngest of the Wright’s and with only two full seasons under his belt, he has never finished outside the Top 20 in the World come Oct. 1.
