Louisiana’s Shea Fournier is taking his piece of the Texas Swing in style. The rookie saddle bronc rider picked up two Go-Round wins in Houston in a noteworthy deubt to be your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.
Fournier picked up some momentum on his way to Houston by way of Florida and he rolled in H-town ready to ride.
He kicked off Super Series 2 with an 86-point ride to win Round 1 on a National Finals Rodeo bucking horse, Vain Reflections of Legacy Pro Rodeo. He was in the money in Round 2 when he placed sixth before bouncing back to the top in Round 3. His second Go-Round win came aboard Calgary Stampede’s Y U R Frisky to the tune of 86.5 points.
When all the money was added up, Fournier has $6,250 by his name to be the No. 1 saddle bronc rider in Super Series 2 to lock in his place in the RodeoHouston Semifinals.
Fournier comes by his talent in the rodeo arena naturally as his father is David Fournier is a seven-time NFR bull rider and founding member of the PBR.
Although Fournier rode both bulls and broncs all the way through college, his choice to enter the pro ranks as a professional saddle bronc rider is already paying off.
He currently sits No.2 in the Resistol Rookie Standings and is No. 35 in the World Standings with big money and a lot of season left to go.
Fournier’s impressive round wins in NRG Stadium mean we will see him again in the Semifinals on March 13-14. It also makes him your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.
