Montana saddle bronc rider Sage Newman found the sweet spots over the weekend to be first and sixth at four different rodeos. When the money was added up, Newman cashed out with almost $10,000 to be your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.
Newman started with a bang at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Frontier Days and Rodeo. The trip to Texas was well worth it for a matchup with Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s Downtown. It was during the first performance that Newman set the bar high with 87.5 points that would be worth $3,300 at the end of it.
The drive to Coleman, Texas for the Thursday night performance of the Coleman PRCA Rodeo was quick and Newman would climb on Taxi of TNT Rodeo. It would be an 84-point ride to put him sixth and in the money.
From there, Newman went to Idaho at the Eagle Rodeo where he matched up with Western Rodeo’s Evil Genius. The two were 84 points, the highest score on Evil Genius so far in the 2024 season and it was good enough for a sixth-place finish.
Newman finished the weekend with a bang as well when he picked up his second win in Oregon. At Sisters Rodeo, Newman drew Big Bend Rodeo’s Spring Tour, a rematch he had been waiting on. After a score of 77 points in Reno last year, Newman made a redemption trip on Spring Tour to be 86.5 points and split the win in Sisters.
A successful weekend leading into the Summer Run is what cowboys look for and Newman had just that. With almost $10,000 stacking up through four rodeos, Newman is your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.
