Bareback rider Jess Pope has taken the time this winter to be selective in the rodeos he has gone to and as we get closer to the busiest time of the year for cowboys, the Kansas World Champion is honing in on winning once again. Two wins came his way to kick off the month of May making him your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.

At the American Royal Rodeo in Missouri, Pope matched up with Korkow Rodeo’s I Fly Plane for the first time to be the second 87-point ride on the horse. It resulted in the win by just one point and added over $2,000 to Pope’s season earnings.

From Missouri to Oklahoma, Pope picked up his second win of the weekend in 90-point fashion aboard Frontier Rodeo’s Breaking News. This was Pope’s second time on the Frontier bucking horse and the best yet. The 90-point ride is the second of the kind on Breaking News this 2024 season.

Although Pope is currently the No. 25 ranked bareback rider in the World, it won’t be long until he is back at the top if this weekend was any kind of preview for his expected performance during 100 Rodeos in 100 Days. Two quick wins later and Pope is your Exmark Roughtstock Athlete of the Week.
