Ernie Courson Jr.’s first week in August brought two big rides and two paydays his way. He is now the No. 17 bull rider in the World and he is your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.

In Phillipsburg, Kansas at Kansas’ Biggest Rodeo, Courson matched up with Beutler & Son Rodeo’s Moody Muley. After eight seconds, it was a monster ride that totaled for 90 points and landed at the top of the leaderboard. Courson won Kansas’ Biggest Rodeo by three points and added $3,666 to his season earnings.

The Florida bull rider followed it up with his second win of the week in Castle Rock, Colorado. On Summit Pro Rodeo’s No. 911 at the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo, Courson made an 86.5-point ride to be the top bull rider by a point and a half. This win added almost $6,000 to his earnings.

The $9,400 to his name after the first weekend in August is more than twice as much as he earned all of July.

Two paydays later and Courson is just outside the Top 15 in the world looking at the possibility of making his third National Finals Rodeo as he rides a wave of momentum into the remaining six weeks of the season.
