Emily Miller changed how she got ready for the rodeo and it is paying off.
Yesterday, she said that her horse Chongo got nervous before running in the first two rounds, so she decided to bring him later to try and calm the horse down. That change has lead to two consecutive round wins including posting the fastest time of the rodeo (16.85 seconds) in Round 7.

“He (Chongo) is very outspoken,” Miller-Beisel said. “That’s one of the things I’ve learned the last three years now. He’s pretty honest, so it’s easy to see whenever he’s ready to rock or not. I did not bring him to practice this morning, 4:20 came pretty early this morning. I brought Beau in for me to get in the arena. When I went back out to clean Chongo’s stall and feed him he had a really good, kind eye. He rested good, and I was pretty confident he was going to have another good day today.”
Miller topped Hailey Kinsel’s time of 16.90 seconds in Round Seven.
In the average, Hailey Kinsel is more than 1.5 seconds ahead of Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, who is in second place.
Kinsel is also in line to win the Top Gun award which goes to the competitor who wins the most money. She has already made over $130,000 at the Wrangler NFR.
