Eli Lord was last out in Round 1 of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and took advantage of his position to secure a spot at the top of the leader board with a 4.1-second run.
“It’s a big deal to get to go last. I got to see a lot of guys clip the barrier, just steers weren’t starting very true tonight and so i was able to just make sure the steer went, went behind him and made a good run,” Lord said.
Lord rode friend and fellow steer wrestler Stetson Jorgensen’s horse Mabel in Round 1 to get the win and earn a check for $2,500.
